Getting Started
Batley Riley Family Law is a dynamic team of Family Law attorneys.
When you call our office, we will direct you to one of our intake specialists. This person will get background information about you and the issue you would like to discuss with the attorney. All information we gather is private and confidential. Our goal is to understand your needs and what you hope to accomplish.
The Intake Specialist then schedules you with the attorney in our firm who has the depth of experience which best matches the level of complexity of your issue.
Since our attorney rates vary, this is how we can provide you with the most cost-effective approach to getting your needs met. Although our clients work primarily with one attorney, it is the firm that takes on the case. Our clients benefit from the experience and expertise of the whole firm through the weekly internal case reviews.
We strive to understand the emotional needs of our clients and provide steady, compassionate support through times of change, conflict, and transition.
Initial Consultaiton
We typically schedule initial consultations within 1-5 days of the call because we understand the urgency of the issues or stress level our clients may be experiencing. The attorney spends a great deal of time in the initial consultation and uses this time to get a good understanding of your goals and what you want to accomplish. There will be a thorough discussion of your life, your family and the issues you are confronting. The attorney will not only explain the laws in New Mexico related to your issue and answer your questions, but will work with you to develop a unique game plan to enable a beneficial solution.
By the end of the consultation a framework of your case will have been worked out and you will have received enough information to consider your possible options.
Because the initial consultation is an active, working session with the attorney, we do charge a consultation fee for the meeting. If you later decide to hire the firm to represent you, we will request a deposit toward services which will be applied to the monthly bill. The client’s actual legal cost is the attorney’s hourly rate times whatever amount of time it takes to resolve the matter.
